Shawn Duthie is the epitome of teaching excellence. The fruit of his care, concern, and compassion for students — spanning almost 20 years at Holliday High School — is clearly evident in our school’s hallway of UIL Academic State Championships won predominantly by students under his tutelage.

Mr. Duthie is a consummate team player, constant encourager, and humble organizer of the successful HHS UIL Academic program, which has won the AAA State Championship three out of the past five years.

Mr. Duthie wholeheartedly believes in investing in those students who might otherwise be written off by his fellow teachers, coaches, or parents. He leads his high school students towards successful careers of their own by teaching them relevant speaking and listening skills for the future.

A recently named Outstanding Alumnus of Midwestern State University, Mr. Duthie also has a reputation state-wide for producing high-quality theatre (AAA State One-Act Play second-runner-up in 2019). His expertise in coaching speech and debate is second-to-none, and his forensics program is considered to be the exemplar for others to follow across the state.

Therefore, it is my honor to nominate Mr. Shawn Duthie as a Red River Best Chevy Dealer “Teacher Appreciation” recipient.
